TE at a Glance
Tuition Exchange
Tuition Exchange (TE) is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity for the dependents of eligible faculty and staff at all Tuition Exchange member schools.
TE is available to eligible employees at member schools. Eligible employees are defined by the employee’s school. Tuition Exchange is not an employee benefit, nor it is a guaranteed scholarship opportunity.
The school defines the beneficiary dependent. This can include the employee, spouse, partner, and children of the employee. TE Central encourages all schools in include who a beneficiary dependent is in your Employee handbook and anywhere employees can find out information on what the employee offers employees.
TE can be a competitive award process. Applicants need to inquire about individual TE application dates and procedures at the Export and all Import schools where the student is considering applying to and potentially enrolling in the fall.
The value of the TE scholarship is tuition or the annual set rate. Be aware that TE funding may include federal and state grant dollars, and any institutional scholarships, and or merit or need-based institutional grants.
Each TE school appoints a Primary Tuition Exchange Liaison Officer (TELO) and, ideally, a Secondary TELO. TE Liaison Officer’s are responsible for confirming qualified TE applicant. Tuition Exchange offers an online application process. Before completing the online application, be sure to check with your Export TE Liaison Officer for the TE application process as some require an internal form in addition to the TE EZ-Application.
Students applying for Tuition Exchange must complete the TE-EZ Application. TELO's receive email notifications the following day via a singular Daily Digest email when one of their Exports submits a TE EZ-Application. Similarly, if a student is an eligible dependent of an employee at another TE member school and submits the TE EZ-Application to apply for a Tuition Exchange Scholarship to attend the TELO's institution, they will also receive a notice in their Daily Digest email the following day that they have an Import application for review.
It is vital to for every student to coordinate their TE Import applications and the individual school admission applications when requesting the TE Liaison Officer to submit the TE application.
Applicants need to check with all Import schools for any additional requirements. Requirements can include filing the FAFSA annually, maintaining minimum grade point average, being enrolled full-time, and living on campus.
The TE Liaison Officer is the institutional contact at the Export school. The admissions counselor or Import TELO is the contact at the Import school.
